Bottle gentian Gentiana andrewsii
Thanks to site steward Steve Packard, and hundreds of volunteers, there are gentians galore at Somme Prairie Grove in the Forest Preserve District of Cook County, IL. Having such abundance to draw and photograph was a luxury and a necessity when studying botanical art. I sketched this gentian there one afternoon, but had to stop when it started to rain. I am proud to be listed as an "Artist" on the Somme website.
