Shell Ridge cattle
This soft pastel sketch on paper is from a photograph my brother sent me. He lives on the Shell Ridge open space in Walnut Creek, CA. We hike there on New Year's Day every year. I think of this as a momento. There is something nice about receiving a photo he took, looking back on a moment we shared, and transforming them into a sketch. You see, the cattle approach, stop and then just stare right at you.
